Some thrift stores tag designer items at near-retail. Compare against recently-sold listings before you assume it is a steal.
Authenticate before you trust the label
Check stitching, hardware, logos, and interior tags against known authentic examples. Counterfeits are common on big-name brands.
Condition can make or break the value
A designer bag with worn corners or a jacket with a broken zipper loses most of its premium. Inspect closely.
Which designers hold value
Established luxury houses and sought-after streetwear brands resell best. Trend-driven labels can crater fast once the trend passes.
When it is worth it
If the piece is authentic, in strong condition, and priced well below sold comps, designer thrifting is absolutely worth it. Otherwise, walk away.
